About me
Hi, I’m J. J like Jane, a very pretty name. (Now isn’t it?)
I was born 24 years ago in the bilingual city of Montreal (Quebec, Canada). I have lived in Italy, France, Czech Republic and Poland, and am now finally back in my hometown. I’m loving it.
I speak French, English, Polish, Czech, Italian… German? Well, I read it. I once read a whole book in Serbo-Croatian, too. In the past I’ve tried to learn Russian, Ukrainian, Dutch, and Portuguese.
I officially hold five college degrees to date, but I’ve no qualifications for any specific occupation. I’ve got a loose background in central European linguistics, literature and history. After a year and a half off academia, which I’ve spent working petty jobs and traveling in Europe, I’m back in the horrifying-fascinating temple of culture and knowledge for a master’s in political science.
I don’t like being considered as a humanities or social sciences girl, although it’s technically what I am. I’ve always loved hard science, sadly life is all about choices and discrimination.
I love art in all its forms. I have a natural talent for sketching, but my passion goes to writing. Singing is a physical pleasure. I’d like to learn to sing properly some day, if only for my own enjoyment.
I am both a sociable and solitary person. I love to mingle and meet new people, strike up random conversations with strangers, while hoping to build some strong, lasting friendships out of the lot. I am used to being on my own a lot, though, and I’ll always go back to my hermitage after some time, if only to daydream in peace.
I’ve got a very strong sense of right, wrong and one’s duty, and I’m honestly trying to make a difference in the world. This blog will probably be about all of the above; a blog for all of my imperfect opinions, because I need to write about them.
Here are some pictures of me in Ho Chi Minh City, Warsaw and London:

Okay, I’m seriously impressed now (11 languages, REALLY ?!). You seem to have a wonderful and very interesting life ! (Like ‘jelzmar’, I’m almost jealous… ^^)
And I’m so happy to be able to count you among my readers : THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT !
I think we have a lot in common, girl
C’était moi en train d’essayer d’écrire en anglais xD Did I succeed ?
Sure! Your English sounds really good.
I can only really communicate in 4-5 languages, though…
But impressing people is definitely one of the reasons why I chose to study languages; I knew that if I said I had some obscure, very specific knowledge in physics or engineering, nobody would care, while foreign languages are a very practical skill which you can show off in everyday life.
OMG MONTREAL. High-five, Asia. (PS: how do you say “high-five” in French? I’m trying to learn.
)
I don’t think there is a word, sadly. :-\
I’ve accidentally stumbled on your blog and I find you absolutely fascinating. “Who is this?” I kept asking myself as I dug deeper. God I hope you’re single
Thoroughly impressed,
Erek
My boyfriend finds that a little creepy…
Are you in Goodreads.com?
I signed up but I haven’t started using it yet… I think I’ll start with the books I’ve read in 2012.
